Balmoral Beach watercolor by Sophie Jovetic

Many Places, Many Reasons to Paint

Balmoral Beach (Top) – painted from a photograph I took, I love how the bike adds a focal point in the foreground. The first 4 in the gallery are from locations near where I live. The rest are listed below.

Dublin canal at night: This was a bespoke commission I did for my good friend, which she loved and now has on her wall!

Rarotonga, The Cook Islands: A good friend wanted a painting of her father’s resting place in the Cook Islands.

Morning Swimmers: I was approached by a gentleman who had seen me sketching outdoors, and he asked me to do a painting of his swimming group, who meet each week at Balmoral beach for a morning swim before work.

Wynyard, Sydney: This was our view out of the Amora Hotel, where my husband and I spent two weeks in quaranteen last year after we were unexpectedly called back to the UK for family reasons.

Shelly Beach – one of my earlier paintings exploring a different style of painting. I love this walk to Shelly beach, it feels quite Mediterranean in my opinion!

Zadar, Croatia sunset: I painted this from a photo I took many years ago whilst travelling across Europe with my sister. I went mad with the colours here to evoke the atmosphere of this stunning place.

View of Melbourne Skyline: I was asked to paint the view out of a lady’s window who lives in Melbourne – I wish I had this view!

A simple beach scene painted from above.
